I'm Back on the Blog!!

Blogging is Hard!

That's probably why I haven't done it in forever!!

My last post was sometime in 2012, and time since then has been devoted to learning a new skill, (I am now OFFICIALLY a Licensed Massage Therapist!) getting a new job, (and quitting that new job after a year!), developing a massive love affair with Pinterest, and getting focused on the direction of the improvements in my life and home.

So why take the time to continue this blog, you ask?

Or, maybe you don't ask... 'Cause after all, I don't know if anyone at all is reading this! But I'm going to answer anyway: it's for a couple of reasons.

Firstly: after scrolling through a few years worth of pics on the computer, I remembered how much fun it is to see where you started and how far you've come. When I look back at the completely empty house, I don't feel so bad anymore that my bedroom isn't painted and that there are no curtains in the hallway. I can see the enormous amount of work that we've done with very little money, little pockets of time here and there, and plenty of imagination.

Secondly: I like to brag! I guess a nicer way to say it would be that I like to share.  (Bragging really is probably the best word for it though, I shouldn't lie) I've gotten SO MANY ideas from so many bloggers (all consolidated on Pinterest), that I feel like sharing my successes, failures and evolution is just the neighborly thing to do.

Thirdly: Writing is a underdeveloped tool. For me in particular.  It's a great exercise to explore complete process of thought and creation. Writing is so theraputic that I've decided that I don't care if anyone, at all, ever reads this blog! This will be my little corner of cyberspace that I can have fun with.

Fourthly: (Are these real words anymore??) My fourthly reason to continue this blog is probably the biggest reason.  And that reason is to do something. Anything. More accurately, it will be the reminder to me, that I am doing something. Or that I am doing nothing.

Uhhhh......What was that last one???

I think you get it. ;)

WELL, HERE GOES......
THE BLOGGING RE-ADVENTURE BEGINS!!!!

The Master Bedroom

I've been showing off the the completed Renter's Room pics to my friends....I know, I know....I'll show you too! But it's just that, it's the only finished room in the whole house! I really want to savor the feeling!!

Anyway, as I scroll through the pics on my camera, everyone seems to be taken with this one.

It's the master bedroom, and it's not even really done! I will admit that the bed and bedding does wonders to an unpainted, unfinished room. But look at the lamp on the right--- I had to steal it's shade for the guest room! I'm not complaining though, it could look a million  times worse. I actually have a bed frame, (although it's not the one I lust over) and the mirror that my hubby put together for me is rather lovely....

The nightstands are both thrift shop finds that I plan to paint, and as for the rest of the room, I'm still deciding if I want to paint, wallpaper, add molding, bookshelves, or what. Or maybe a little of all of the above!I'm not going to show you the other "before" shots of this room today because it's too messy (why, oh why didn't I take pictures when I cleaned the house from top to bottom for my house guests last week??).

So this pic will have to suffice for the "before" picture of the master bedroom.  Hopefully I'll get some momentum and courage soon and this room will get some love and attention!

Easy (and Free!) Hallway ReMix

Hello. Today was a bit of a strange morning. I awoke at 6:30am (that's the strange part) and just decided that it was the day to decorate the hallway. Why right now? Maybe I was inspired by the Phoenix needlepoint art I found at the thrift store the other day?

I think it's fun & funny!

Maybe I was tired of looking at the land of forsaken pictures left in the upstairs landing? (which will one day be our office area)

Or maybe I just wanted to have a little more fun downstairs!!! Why should you have to trek all the way up one whole flight of stairs to see some color???

Well anyway, this is what happened:
I moved the wine rack that was soon headed for Craig's List
if he didn't find another home other than here
in the dining room nook....

I'm making room for a buffet in this spot. Sadly, these bar stools did not get
another chance at life in this house. A Craig'sList casualty they did become.

....into the hallway between the laundry and powder room...

.....added a few accessories stolen from other places (from my own house, not really stolen) ....

hung the pictures (all by myself) with a minimum of swiss cheese wall treatment,

....and VIOLA!

Sorry 'bout the shot of me in the mirror.....

A fun place to land your eyes when you arrive through the garage, and an interesting reception when you vacate the powder room! And all for no money! I already had all of the items waiting for a home. (Well, I spent $6 on the needlepoint art, so, just a little money)

.....so here's a shot of my hubby!! (just to be fair!)
So whatd'ya think about the new hallway? I think it's fun! What do you think??
Tell me all about it in the comment box!!
